What affects the price of a calving season safari, what is included and how long you should stay.

What drives the price
The main costs are park and conservation fees, the vehicle and guide, and your accommodation. Calving season is high season, so camps near Ndutu charge more from January to March. Group size matters too: a private vehicle shared by more people costs less per person.

Typical prices
Our calving season packages start from about $2,600 per person for a 5-day safari, and rise with the number of days and the level of accommodation. See each package for its current price, and ask for a quote for your dates, group size and budget.

5 days: the short version
A 5-day safari usually combines two nights in the Ndutu area with a night near the Ngorongoro Crater and a crater descent. It is the fastest way to see the calving season. See our 5-day Ndutu calving season and Ngorongoro Crater safari.

6 to 7 days: the sweet spot
More days give you time to follow the herds, add Tarangire or Lake Manyara, and spend a full day on the plains. Our 6-day Ndutu safari and the 7-day February calving season safari are our most popular lengths.

8 days: add more
An 8-day itinerary lets you combine the calving season with extra nights in the central Serengeti or a longer stay at Ndutu. It suits photographers and second-time visitors.

What is included
Our packages normally include a private 4x4 with a pop-up roof, an English-speaking guide, park fees, accommodation, meals and airport transfers. Flights, visas, tips and travel insurance are usually extra. Always check the inclusions of each package.
