Mafia Island lies about 120 kilometers south of Dar es Salaam and is part of the Mafia Archipelago. It is accessible by a short domestic flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar. The island is home to the Mafia Island Marine Park, Tanzania’s first marine park, established to protect its coral reefs and marine life.
