Too many parks, the wrong season, cheap packages with hidden extras: avoid the most common mistakes before you book.

1. Trying to see everything
Tanzania is huge, and moving camp every night means long drives and little game viewing. Two or three nights per area gives you time to enjoy it.

2. Ignoring the season
The herds are in different places in different months, and the rains change the roads and the landscape. Tell us what you most want to see and we will match it to your dates.
3. Choosing on price alone
A cheap package may use a shared vehicle, cut the park days or add costs later. Ask exactly what is included, including park fees, meals, drinks and transfers.

4. Skipping a private vehicle
Shared vehicles are fine for a short trip, but a private vehicle with a pop-up roof lets you stay longer at a sighting and photograph at your pace.
5. Packing too much
Hard suitcases and heavy bags are hard on small planes and vehicles. Pack light and soft.

6. Forgetting travel basics
Check passport validity, visa rules, vaccinations and travel insurance early. Rules change, so always rely on the official sources for your nationality.
7. Leaving no buffer
Arrive a day early, especially if you are climbing Kilimanjaro, and keep some slack in your schedule at the end for weather or flight changes.
