This morning you will travel from Moshi/Arusha to Tarangire National Park, taking approximately 3-4 hours. Tarangire is sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah and up to six thousand elephants. Enjoy your afternoon game drive.
Overnight: Tarangire
On the third day, you’ll have the entire day to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Tarangire National Park. With its diverse landscapes and vegetation, the park is sure to leave you in awe. Our knowledgeable guides will take you on a journey through the park, showing you peaceful animal hiding spots that you won’t want to miss.
Overnight: Tarangire
This morning, take your time over breakfast before embarking on a one-hour journey to Mto wa Mbu. This bustling farming community is a melting pot of cultural diversity, with over 120 ethnic groups residing in the surrounding area. Enjoy a tuk-tuk, cycling or walking tour to learn more about the different tribes and their cultures. In the afternoon, continue your journey to Lake Eyasi, where you can immerse yourself in the traditional ways of the local Hadzabe and Datoga tribes.
Overnight Lake Eyasi
Lake Eyasi is a unique destination, home to the Hadzabe Bushmen, a hunter-gatherer tribe similar to the bushmen in Southern Africa. This indigenous group lives in true harmony with nature and communicates through clicking sounds. Hunting with them can be an unforgettable experience.
After lunch, travel for around 2 hours to the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will spend the night. On Day 6, venture into the crater to see the unique wildlife that inhabits the area. Almost all the wildlife lives within the crater walls, making game spotting easy. Rhino, lions, and cheetah are among the animals you may see. Enjoy lunch by the peaceful hippo pond.
Overnight Ngorongoro
Embark on a four-hour journey from Ngorongoro to Serengeti, with an optional stop at the world-renowned Olduvai Gorge archaeological site. Serengeti is known for its vast, flat plains that host millions of wildebeest during migration, and a variety of predators such as lion, cheetah, leopard, and hyena. Your knowledgeable guide will select optimal viewing locations based on the season. Observe the hippo pool and witness the giant creatures coexisting with crocodiles, observe lion hunts, or be awed by the great wildebeest migration. Explore the diverse terrain, from the sweeping plains to the volcanic kopjes that shelter a range of wildlife. The abundance of animal sightings in this captivating landscape makes for an unforgettable experience.
Overnight Serengeti
After the trek, you will return to your accommodation for some well-deserved rest before visiting a local Maasai village. Here you will have the opportunity to learn more about this fascinating and traditional tribe, their customs and way of life. Gain insight into their culture and traditions, and see how they live harmoniously with the wildlife that surrounds them. The evening will be spent around the campfire, enjoying a traditional Maasai dance and dinner.
Overnight Lake Natron
Day 10 offers you the flexibility to choose between rest and adventure, depending on whether you completed the challenging hike to Ol Doinyo L’Engai the previous night. If you did, take the morning to rest before exploring the lake and waterfalls in the afternoon. If you didn’t, wake early to capture the stunning sunrise and spend the day discovering the beauty of Lake Natron and its vibrant flamingo population.
Overnight Lake Natron
After the long drive on this day, which can take around six to seven hours, you will reach a remote Maasai village that is not frequently visited by tourists. Upon arrival, you will be introduced to the village and set up camp. Later in the day, when the Maasai men return from their daily activities with the cattle, you will have the opportunity to witness the village’s vibrant community life and enjoy the sunset. In the evening, you will participate in a traditional Maasai goat ceremony and join in their dances.
Overnight camping at the Maasai Village (basic toilets & no shower facilities)
On this day, you will have ample time to immerse yourself in the Maasai culture and lifestyle. Embark on a guided walking tour around the village where the Maasai locals will introduce you to their medicinal plants and their uses. You will also witness the art of Maasai bead jewelry making, a skill that is passed down from generation to generation. The women will demonstrate their craft, and you can even purchase some of their handmade jewelry. Later in the day, after lunch, you will begin your journey back to Moshi/Arusha.
Overnight Moshi/Arusha
Today you will be transferred back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in time for your flight.
